Welcome to Venus Meats. These Terms of Service govern your use of our website and the purchase of our products, including local orders and export orders. By accessing our website or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully before using our services.

1. Use of Our Services

You may use our website and services only if you:

1. Are at least 18 years of age
2. Provide accurate and complete information when placing orders or making inquiries
3. Use the website for lawful purposes only
4. Do not attempt to interfere with the proper working of the website or its security features

2. Products and Availability

We supply fresh and processed meat products as listed on our website.

1. Product images are for illustration. Actual cuts and portions may vary within normal trade tolerances
2. All products are subject to availability, and we reserve the right to limit quantities, discontinue products, or decline an order where stock is insufficient
3. Stock levels shown on the website are indicative. If an item in your order turns out to be unavailable, we will contact you to arrange a substitution, to adjust your order, or to cancel the affected item

3. Orders and Acceptance

3.1 Local Orders

Placing an order through our website constitutes an offer to purchase. The confirmation email you receive immediately afterwards acknowledges that we have received your order and gives you your order number — it is not yet our acceptance of it. Your order is accepted once our team has reviewed it, confirmed product availability, and confirmed payment and delivery details with you. We may decline or cancel an order where a product is unavailable, where pricing or product information contained an obvious error, or where we suspect fraud.

3.2 Export Orders and Quotes

Export inquiries submitted through our website are requests for a quotation, not confirmed orders. We will prepare and send you a quote covering products, shipping, and applicable charges. A quote is valid until the date stated on it and may be revised before you accept it. An export order becomes binding only when you accept the quote and we confirm the order. Export orders are subject to the import regulations of the destination country, and you are responsible for ensuring the products may be lawfully imported.

3.3 Updating Your Own Order or Inquiry

Your confirmation email includes a secure link that lets you update the details of your own order or export inquiry for a limited time. The link is unique to you and expires, so please do not share or forward it. Any change made through it remains subject to these terms and to our confirmation, and an order that has already been prepared or dispatched can no longer be changed this way.

4. Pricing and Payment

1. Prices: All prices are shown in Kenya Shillings (KES) unless stated otherwise and may change without notice. The price applicable to your order is the price at the time the order or quote is confirmed
2. Delivery fees: Self-collection is free. If you choose delivery, no fee is charged at checkout — our team reviews your location and emails you the delivery fee for your confirmation before you pay (see section 5)
3. Shipping charges: Export orders attract shipping charges calculated by destination and weight, as set out in your quote
4. Payment methods: We accept M-Pesa, bank transfer, cheque, and cash on delivery for local orders, and the methods stated on your quote for export orders
5. How payment is made: No payment is taken on this website and no card details are entered here. You pay us directly using one of the methods above, quoting your order number, and a member of our team records the payment against your order
6. Promotional codes: Promotional and discount codes apply only within their stated validity period and conditions, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are normally limited to one use per customer

5. Delivery and Collection

5.1 Self-Collection

Self-collection is the default option at checkout and is free of charge. We will confirm with you when and where your order is ready to be collected.

5.2 Delivery

If you request delivery at checkout, your order is placed without a delivery fee. Our team then reviews your delivery location and emails you the fee to confirm before payment. The following terms apply:

1. You are responsible for providing a correct and accessible delivery address and for being available to receive perishable goods
2. Delivery timelines communicated to you are estimates and may be affected by factors outside our control
3. We may use third-party couriers to carry out deliveries, and will pass on only the details they need to complete the delivery
4. Risk in the products passes to you on delivery to the address provided, or on collection where you collect the order yourself
5. If delivery fails because the address was incorrect or no one was available to receive the order, a redelivery fee may apply
6. Export order delivery terms, including the point at which risk passes, are stated in the applicable quote

6. Perishable Goods, Returns and Refunds

Meat products are perishable. For food safety reasons we cannot accept returns of delivered or collected products except where the product was defective, damaged, or not what you ordered.

1. Inspect your order on delivery or collection and report any problem to us within 24 hours of receipt
2. Where a product is confirmed defective or incorrect, we will replace it or refund the affected item
3. Refunds are arranged with you directly, normally through the method you used to pay, within a reasonable period
4. Products that have been stored, handled, or prepared improperly after delivery or collection are not eligible for replacement or refund

7. Cancellations

You may request cancellation of a local order before it has been prepared or dispatched by contacting us with your order number. Orders already dispatched cannot be cancelled. Export orders may be cancelled before quote acceptance without charge; cancellation after acceptance may attract costs already incurred in preparing or shipping the order.

8. Food Safety and Product Quality

We handle and package all products in line with applicable food safety standards. After delivery or collection, you are responsible for:

1. Refrigerating or freezing products promptly on receipt
2. Storing products at safe temperatures
3. Cooking products thoroughly before consumption
4. Observing any use-by guidance provided with the products

9. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, images, logos, and design, belongs to Venus Meats or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or use this content for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability arising from any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for delays and failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under the laws of Kenya, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2012.

11. Privacy

Our collection and use of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. Updated terms take effect when posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Kenya. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
